Have you ever felt like you were destined for bigger, better things in life, that your purpose on this planet is more than solely making a living at a job you aren’t particularly enjoying?

Or you have had a gut feeling for years that, besides the fact that it won’t go away, has been growing on your mind and you feel the time is approaching where a change needs to be made.

If this is you and these are your feelings then you are not alone, and you are most certainly on the right track to being the best version of yourself that you were always meant to be. Getting there may take a bit of research and effort but it is well worth it in the long-run and you’ll thank yourself for it in the end.

An explanation

Hearing all these ‘motivational’ words and expressions can get you excited and willing to tackle any task, but before jumping in with both feet and your eyes closed a basic understanding of what you are about to get yourself into is needed.

When you want to make a change for the greater good or are enthusiastic about a product that you believe will add value to people’s lives and make life that much simpler (because we know we could all use a helping hand, especially with the daily increasing workload of our schedules) then you need to take the lead.

It doesn’t mean throwing all your hard-earned savings into the product and keeping your fingers crossed that it works and essentially sells itself, but more about being the brand image for the product. We are talking about becoming and being an ambassador.

Not the title associated with the United Nations although that could come up one day (here’s hoping), but more to the sense of being related to and recognized when a product is being spoken about.

An ambassador – read a more detailed description of it here - is, in a nutshell, the ‘key salesperson’ that markets and represents the item or value. They convey the message they strongly believe and practice to others, explain why they feel this way, and how implementing this into people’s lives is a good thing.

It is much bigger than being, what some like to think of as a smooth-talking sales guy, who is more focused on the end goal of closing a deal and making a commission. Whereas an ambassador whole-heartedly gives his or her efforts to make the world a better place for the next generation via more efficient or effective products and lifestyle changes.

To practice what you preach you need to make a commitment to the cause, dedicate time to the work, and your cards will fall into place the way they were destined to. And as the old saying goes, ‘if you don’t try you will never know,’ and this is so true, what have you got to lose right?

What it takes

Besides ‘gusto’ and a heap of motivational quotes to get the ball rolling (see some of those in this link) a few key traits will help the process and get you there that much quicker. Let’s take a look at the top few points that came up in conversation while talking to current brand ambassadors and what they believe it took for them to get where they are and how they went about it all.

  • Passion. If you don’t love the concept, idea, or product you are getting involved with the message will not come across to your target market. It is easier to explain to potential customers and get excited about something when it means something to you, it is also less work as anything that interests you isn’t an effort.
  • Be you. There is no-one else like you in the world and this is your superpower, being unique and genuine is what will make you stand out from the crowd. We weren’t born square to fit into a round hole.
  • Consistency. This works for all industries, consistency is key. If you keep at it, it will happen. The more you put in the better the results, some days you may not feel like it, but you have to get up, show up, and make it work. Going slow is still going, and besides, quitting never got anyone anywhere.

Not one nor the other point is more important than the rest, they need to work together to bring the bigger picture to life, and then you will start to see the true meaning of being and what it means to be a brand ambassador.
