The Key To Success In MLM

9 min read

Productivity: it's the key to success for any business owner, and this includes those of you who are involved in multi-level-marketing. To be productive, you need to manage your time well, while working hard at each task you take on to get the required results.

But here's the thing. Because MLM is a business venture that many people take on as a side-hustle to create extra income, they have a tendency to treat it like a hobby. And if this is you, you need to have a change of mindset if you expect to elevate your career in MLM.  If you treat it like a simple pastime, you might never get the financial rewards you are hoping for, and that would be a shame. Therefore, whether it is a side-hustle or not, ensure you make time for the work you need to do in the week. This involves scheduling your time so you can get on with the tasks at hand, and prioritizing the tasks you need to do so you don't waste time doing something non-essential. You should also make every effort to avoid anything that might pose as a distraction.

Start the day the right way

As is true for any business owner, if you don't start the day properly, you might tire early and become less productive. Therefore, ensure you get the right amount of sleep by going to bed at a reasonable time the night before, and then get out of bed at a decent hour to give you enough time to do what you need to do in the day. Eat a healthy breakfast too as this will energize your mind and body, and even do a little exercise to get you in the right frame of mind. When you start the day the right way, you will be ready and raring to go, which is a good job, because as you will see in the next point, you might have a lot to add to your to-do list.

Make a to-do list

You need to manage your time well, and one of the best ways to do this is to create a to-do list to order your schedule. Use simple pen and paper or download a time-management app, and then prioritize those activities that hold importance over others.

If you are unsure as to what tasks you should add to your to-do list, the following are examples of productive activities.

1. List the people who might use your product

Thinking about the people you know, be they friends, family members, work colleagues, or others, list the names of the people who might have an interest in what you are offering. Then rearrange the list, putting the names of those people who are more likely to take up your offer at the top, as this way, you might have a better chance of success with your phone calls when contacting them.

2. Create a sales message

If you have already perfected your sales pitch, then fine, although you might still want to tailor it to specific people on your potential client list. Whatever the case, create a message that highlights the benefits of the product you are selling, and practice your pitch to significant others if that will help your confidence level.

3. Pick up the phone

You need to arrange meetings with your potential clients, so time needs to be set aside to possibly arrange a meeting with them if they're interested. You also need to arrange a time to meet existing clients, as well as follow-up meetings with people you have approached before. You might also want to approach people to join your business. These may be existing happy clients, or they might be anybody you know with time on their hands and who is on the lookout to improve their income. So, considering you might have to spend a long time on the phone, ensure you block out a time in the day to have these conversations. Be mindful, however. To be productive, you should only call those people who are less guaranteed to waste your time, so rule out those who are unlikely to have any interest in buying from you or working for you. Of course, if you want to save money on your phone bill, you might also use email or social media for some of your communication.

4. Prepare a presentation

If you have managed to arrange a time with potential clients or recruits to your business, you need to set aside time to prepare a presentation. These MLM presentation tips might be useful to you.

5. Carry out your meetings or presentations

If you already have a meeting or presentation booked, then that's fantastic. Ensure you have plenty of time to refresh yourself on your notes before attending by blocking in time before you travel to your client.

6. Other things to during your day

There might be other things you can do if you have time available to you. You might distribute your brochure to communities you haven't visited before. You might write thank you notes to your clients for using your business. And if you do have anybody working for you, you might also catch up with them to find out how they're doing.

Whatever you add to your to-do list, make sure you set time for yourself too. While you will need to work hard, you will be less productive if you exhaust yourself. So, don't book too many meetings on the same day, and limit the number of phone calls you make if you have a long list. And make sure you take time out for lunch and exercise, as this way, you will be better equipped to deal with the rest of your day. Then consider the next point.

Cut out time wasting activities

In our list above, we specified a few of the tasks that might make up your day. However, there are other, non-productive activities that might eat up your time. Following up leads who are unlikely to buy from you is one such example, as is spending time on social media for reasons unrelated to work. You only have a set amount of time each day, so you do need to focus on those activities that might lead to success in your business. So, plan time for work mode, and then fill it with tasks that are more likely to bear fruit. Anything else in your life, such as looking at cat videos on YouTube, or nattering with friends on the phone, can be set aside after you have finished work for the day.

Use technology to help you

There is an app or piece of software for almost any business tasks these days, many of which will help you streamline your day, and boost your productivity.

As an example, you might download schedule-management software to help you plan your meetings and to set tasks to any recruits working for you. Check out https://getsling.com/blog/work-schedule-app/ for one popular example.

We also recommend Canva, a useful graphic design tool to make light work of any presentations you are looking to create. Zoom is a video conferencing tool that will give you the means to communicate with your clients and recruits without you having to move off your sofa to meet them. And Mybeehyve is like your own virtual assistant, a useful tool that can send bulk emails, help you track your progress, manage your contacts, and more.

There are many more apps and pieces of software available, so do your research, and then download anything that you think you will enable you to be more productive during the day.

Finally

Productivity is your key to success in MLM, so adhere to our suggestions. By using your time wisely, and by using the resources available to you, you should be able to meet many of your goals on a daily and weekly basis.
