These days a woman can have the best of both worlds. She can raise a family, educate herself and have the career she's always wanted.

It's not easy, in fact, it's a very delicate balancing act, but with the right techniques and mindset, most women already know that anything is possible.

In truth, there is no perfect balance and even the best-laid plans can go awry. However, the more organised and dedicated you are, the quicker you'll be able to recover from these little hiccups. Here we'll explore how you can balance your demanding career and your family.

Get the right tools

Could your job be made easier if you had the right technology and software supporting you? Often jobs are ten times harder and more time consuming than they should be, simply because the latest software hasn’t been implemented. If you work in HR for example, then people development hr systems could be a time and a lifesaver.

When your software and systems complement your work and all speak to each other, it reduces the likelihood of mistakes, it provides good lines of communication and it creates a more streamlined role. Giving you more time to get other tasks done and be present at home! Speak with your employer about upgrading your HR software today.

Plan weekly meals

There's a lot of meals to make in a week. From breakfasts to snacks, lunches, more snacks, evening meals and that's for you, your partner and your children. Having a busy day at work and then coming home to an empty fridge is a nightmare, so stay ahead of the game, eat mindfully, and plan your meals and snacks in advance.

Anticipate how much milk and bread you’ll need to get through the week and other essentials. Create your meals in advance on the weekends and freeze them. Sort out the kids' lunches the night before and store them in the fridge! You could even get the kids to help you so you can spend more time together.

If someone offers help, take it!

We’re all programmed to say “no” when people offer us help. Perhaps we don’t want to seem weak, or we’re worried something will go wrong. However, when you’re trying to get things done and someone offers a helping hand (whether at work or with things at home) say, YES!

Just like there’s no shame in accepting help, there’s no shame in asking for it either. If you don’t have the time to head to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, ask a family friend! You’ll be amazed at how many people are waiting to help you.

And finally, look after yourself

You may be surprised to see this one on the list. However, looking after yourself is incredibly important. You can’t be expected to be a career woman and a wonderful mother if you don’t look after yourself. This doesn’t always mean spa days and shopping sprees, it could mean a full nights’ sleep, eating healthily, socialising or enjoying some solo time.
