We live in an era where, generally speaking, it is not only a mother’s responsibility to stay at home with her new baby, but also with split responsibilities women are back at work much quicker than ever before.
This is even more so with the surge in technology, broadband and the availability of Jobrapido and other reputable recruitment sites offering a one-stop shop for anyone looking for literally any position in any sector.
Companies have been quick to recognise the growing new pool of talented mothers, and this has resulted in an increase of mum-friendly companies. And they are all geared to provide benefits and help for moms in the workplace.
Avon
Avon, as everyone will know, has a workforce predominantly made up of women. Around 65% of those working for the company are female, and therefore, they are one of the leaders when it comes to being mom-friendly. Up to ten weeks of paid maternity leave is available, and they offer eight weeks of the same for those adopting.
What sets Avon apart from other companies, however, is that they provide funding for IVF, as well as adoption aid. The company prides itself on being a leader where women’s issues are concerned, with their global programme stand4her and the Avon Foundation for Women.
Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson, a company which reaches out directly to new moms, is always going to be a business with a mom-friendly attitude. They start, as many others in the sector do, by offering new moms up to nine weeks of paid maternity leave. However, the great thing is that recently they have decided to hand out an additional eight weeks of time off. And, it can be made use of at any point during the twelve months after birth.
To make it onto this list, the company must be doing a bit extra, and going above and beyond. So, we were pleased to hear Johnson & Johnson operate a milk-delivery service for mums with babies and toddlers who need it within their company. And this applies to those away on business as well.
Most people will use Google daily, and the majority will have heard stories about it being one of the top companies to work for on the planet. From nap rooms loaded with bean bags, through to there being plenty of snacks around the place, Google is a company on the up. And, we’re pleased to say it’s the perfect mom-friendly organisation as well.
New moms will be able to take eighteen weeks of paid maternity leave, which blows most other companies out of the water. And, Google doesn't forget about dads either. They get six weeks paid leave to support new mums. The company also understands the importance of transitioning back into the working environment, so, they offer free childcare on-site. They also help with expenses for essentials such as nappies and milk formula.
There are multiple mom-friendly companies to work for in the current climate. However, we feel the three above go that extra mile that some others don’t. It’s always worth reading up on an organisation if you’re likely to become a new mom, for example, as you will know beforehand if the right support and benefits will be on hand.
