By 2025,  Mumpreneurs will generate £9.5 billion for the UK economy and be in charge of 13,000 employees.

This means stepping away from  the comfort of your own home, getting your own office, networking across the country, all while ferrying the kids to and from school and to their after school clubs. To ensure that you get it all done in a day, it’s essential that you’ve got a reliable set of wheels on hand that’s suitable for both your business and family’s needs.

How big does it need to be?

When you’ve got your business supplies and laptop to transport from A to B, as well as all of your children’s belongings, such as pushchairs and school bags, you need a  vehicle with plenty of space. SUVs and crossovers are popular with parents as multiple Isofix car seats can be installed, there’s plenty of storage space in them, and they’re reliable.  1 in 3 vehicles sold in Europe each year is an SUV, according to latest figures, with popular models including the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Other large vehicles to consider include estate models and saloons.

Does tech matter?

These days vehicles come packed with multiple gadgets that help you run your business on the road. Cars that come with wireless phone charging pads allow you to keep your phone topped up whenever you’re on the go. In-car WiFi comes in particularly handy when you’re waiting in the school car park for your kids and you’ve got emails to catch up with. It’s also worth considering a  vehicle with an integrated voice assistant as you can write and send emails while driving, make calls, and obtain directions without needing to pull over. You shouldn’t forget about in-car technology that will occupy your kids either, such as an in-built DVD player.

Look for great storage options

As any parent will know you can never have enough storage in your home, and the same goes for your car. If your kids are prone to leaving food, drinks, toys, and books in the back of your car, then you should look for a vehicle that will allow you to hide these all away. After all, if you drive colleagues and work associates around, you want to make a good impression. Similarly, if you run a business where you deliver goods in your vehicle, you don’t want to come across as unorganised. Look for vehicles with overhead storage bins, storage in the armrest, and magic seats, such as those found in Honda models.

A business vehicle is crucial for most working mums looking to expand their business. But to make your life as simple and stress-free as possible, it’s best to opt for a vehicle that caters to your family’s needs, too.
